I'm Brenda and this summer 2011 David and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary with a trip to Norway, to visit Mari's family, and Britain, because we've always wanted to travel around that island! Abby is joining us and will leave us in Banchory where she'll stay for two more weeks. Come along for my travelogue!

July 16: Rainy Saturday market day in Thirsk
Rain was falling, heavily at times, during our day in Thirsk but the locals were still visiting town, shopping in the market and shops or having tea. We wandered around for awhile, especially enjoying the White Rose Book Shop. We've noticed Britain has quite a few independent book shops that seem to be doing well, especially in the villages/towns we've visited, and they are quite well stocked. But, books don't travel overseas well because they weigh so much, so we've had to be careful to not be tempted and to satisfy ourselves with flat, light-weight artistic cards instead (which the British also stock well in many shops)!
