Wednesday, July 13: Bronte Parsonage Museum

On our way north to the Yorkshire Dales, we made a stop in Haworth, the town where the Bronte family lived and the parsonage museum where the sisters lived while they wrote their famous novels: Charlotte - Jane Eyre, Emily - Wuthering Heights, Anne - The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Their family has a rather interesting story and seeing their home and the town gave us more personal impressions of their lives. After all the warm golden colored stone of the Cotswolds, these dark stone buildings and town seemed rather bleak and even the countryside didn't seem quite so friendly. If you know their novels you know that their writing is also rather haunting and bleak.
